> Are SEB electric bikes safe?
> How far will a SEB bike get me?
Isn’t it lazy to ride an electric bike?
Most definitely not! Riding a SEB will get your heart rate up as far as you want. You will be able to travel about five times the difference of your average pedal powered ride so you will more than likely do the same if not more exercise on a SEB than a normal bike. The fact is, if riding a SEB gets you out on a bike and out of your car, your health will benefit. Anything that gets you in the saddle of a SEB is a step away from laziness.
>How do I charge a SEB bike and how long does it take?
If you have access to a powerpoint you can charge up your SEB battery. All SEB bikes have batteries that can be unattached from the bike and taken inside to charge. The time taken to charge depends on the size and type of the battery. Some SEB’s have larger batteries for maximum distance and others are smaller to keep the weight down. Factor in an average of four to six hours for a full charge. Overnight is the most practical time to charge but there is no reason not to top up the charge during the day. All SEB’s have a charge indicator to let you know who much juice is left in the battery so you can plan your trip. Unlike a car, if you run out of juice, you can always just pedal!
The ideal and most environmentally sound way to charge the batteries is to charge up from a Green power provider from a solar array. That is what SEb headquarters uses and this way all energy being used to charge up the bikes is sourced from renewable and sustainable sources. Nice!
We do have some recommendations and guidelines to maximise the life of SEB batteries here.
You can find out more information about Green Power or Solar arrays here.
Do I need a license to ride a SEB?
Nope. In the eyes of the law you are riding a bike like any other and you don’t need nothin for that. A helmet is compulsory let alone common sense! Compare that to needing a drivers license, rego, insurance, fuel costs, car maintenance - argh the list goes on.
Is my SEB insured?
SEB’s are insured but you are liable for all damage to the bike whilst in your care and you will need to pay the excess premium in the event that the SEB is stolen. If you follow our security measures you can limit the risk of theft. We wish we could offer our riders a financially risk free service but it ain’t possible. If we did we would go bust in no time. Not a good long term strategy.
What are my responsibiliteis when I ride a SEB?
You will need to take on responsibilty for the bike when it is in your posession, That means following certain guidlines about how and where to secure the bike, how to change a hire period and check the availabilty of the bike. You will need to sign a Waiver form that in the event of an accident while riding a SEB bike you will have no claim against SEB. YOu are still covered by third party personal injury insurance as all car owners must have this is NSW. You can download the SEB Terms and Conditions here.
What are SEB’s responsibilities when hiring a SEB bike?
At SEB we take your safety very seriously. We offer you advice on the safest way to ride a SEB bike and we also have a safety check that each bike goes through on a weekly basis. All bikes are regularly serviced and maintained. We advise you to check the SEB before you ride away and let us know if there is anything that needs to be attended to. If your SEB needs any repair we will hire you an alternative bike.

Do I need to leave a deposit when hiring a bike?
We need some form of security when we hire you a bike. Sadly we can’t trust everyone to return the bike in the condition they received it. We have to keep some form of security to keep the SEB service operational. We need to see your drivers license and at least one official document that is no more than 6 weeks old that proves your address. That address needs to be the same as on your license. In addition we need either a deposit as cash or on your credit card.
The simplest method is to become a member of SEB. Becoming a member of SEB means that you only have to leave us a deposit once. This is fully refundable if you decide to cancel your membership, something we hope you wont want to do of course. In this way you can hire a SEB whenever you want and you don’t need to worry about leaving a deposit. If you prefer to hire a SEb on a casul basis you will need to leave a deposit each time you hire. We use a system of credit card pre-authorisation as a form of deposit. This is basically a hold on your credit card of a certain amount. It will reduce the limit on your card for the period of your hire but as soon as the SEB is returned the pre-authorisation is cancelled and your cards credit is reinstated. You just need to make sure that you have at least $500 available on your credit card to place the deposit. If you like you can have us store your credit card details in a secure database to save you filling in your details for each hire.
